The Olympians are a council including the twelve olympian gods and goddesses. The twelve Olympians control the affairs of the minor gods and the rest of the world, including western civilization.

First Generation Olympians[]

The first generation Olympians are the children of Kronos and Rhea. They began the first Olympian war against the Titans and defeated them, taking control of the earth

Oldest to youngest:

Second Generation Olympians[]

After the first war against the Titans, several gods assumed thrones on Olympus, mainly the children of Zeus. All but one of the later Olympians are children of Zeus.

Minor Olympian Gods and Goddesses[]

After the Olympians were victorious in the Second Olympian War, a new but smaller council was created for 14 minor gods to control, to help in the disputes of the Olympian gods:

Abilities[]

Each Olympian controls abilities conncected to the realms that they control. The Big Three: Zeus, Poseidon and Hades, are the most powerful Olympians, controlling the sky, the sea and the Underworld. Demeter presides over the harvest, and the seasons. Most of the other Olympians have control over the affairs of mankind; Ares over violence, Hephaestus over invention and Aphrodite over love and desire.

Personalities[]

As gods, the Olympians, and in particular the twelve council members, have extremely diverse personality traits that coincide with the realms and concepts that they preside over and represent:

  • Zeus is authoritative and typically abrupt, which coincides with him being the ruler of the sky and the king of the gods.
  • Poseidon has a mysterious and temperamental nature along with a protective nature for ocean life, being god of the sea.
Demeter is shown to have a motherly, overprotective, overbearing demeanor with an inordinate obsession with agriculture and related products, being the goddess of agriculture.
  • Hades is often misanthropic; being bitter, angry, and resentful, which humans typically view as an attitude appropriate to the dead, since Hades controls the Underworld and is god of the dead.
  • Ares is excessively warlike, brutal and agressive with a fascination with weapons and violence, being the god of war.

The twelve main Olympians do share several traits however. The first and most important is that they are all easily offended, except for Ares. Almost all of the gods that so much as sense a slight against them tend to react ominously. The Olympians all have their own flame, which appears in their eyes when they are angered. Each Olympian is also to some degree dismissive of the needs and desires of other gods, especially when they conflict with their own. Hera shows a disregard for certain elements of her family that threaten to unbalance her perfect family image, such as her won son, Hephaestus.
