As, a child, Julius lived with his mother in LA until he was nine, at which point Gloria was fired from her job due to her inability to balance it and taking care of Julius. A year later, when Julius was ten, they lost their apartment and had to live on the street. When Julius was twelve, Gloria died from an illness, and he was placed by the state in a shelter for homeless children, which was destroyed in a monster attack a few months later.

Julius bounced around foster homes for the next few months, and eventually left the city for the forest. He managed to survive in the woods for a little less than a year, until he was taken in by Lupa and her pack. After training with the pack for six months, he left the Wolf House and journeyed to Camp Jupiter. on his way there, he found a white horse that showed him the way to Camp. He named the horse Agrippa.

Life at Camp Jupiter[]

In Camp Jupiter, Julius was placed in the First Cohort. Julius looked up to his half-brother Jason Grace, but didn't interact with him very often due to them belonging to different Cohorts. He was made a regular in the Legion after two months for single-handedly defeating a Laistrygonian giant that broke into the Field of Mars, though it was by accident. Julius spent every hour he wasn't training in the Temple of Jupiter, trying to contact his father. His first excursion outside of Camp was the Roman assault on Mount Othrys, where Julius was the first among the First Cohort to scale the mountain, followed by Michael Kahale.

Heroes of Olympus[]

The Son of Neptune[]

Julius is present in Camp Jupiter during Percy Jackson's arrival, and like the rest of the Camp, wonders where Jason has gone to. He is also one of the many First Cohort Legionnaires that participated the War Game and defeated by the Fifth Cohort. During Polybotes' invasion to Camp Jupiter, Julius leads a group of auxiliary forces to battle, where they fight Ma Gasket's Cyclopes army, while Tyson killed Ma Gasket herself.

The Mark of Athena[]

After the Argo II attacks New Rome, Julius is one of the biggest supporters of following The Seven to attack them, and to attack Camp Half-Blood after the battle in Fort Sumter.

The Blood of Olympus[]

While preparing to attack Camp Half-Blood with the rest of the Legion, Julius disagrees with Octavian's decision to bring exiled Legionnaires and monsters to join the Roman army, and in return is demoted back to Probatio, and transferred to the Fifth Cohort. During the battle, he witnesses Octavian's death from afar.

Between the Series[]

After Gaea's defeat, Julius is brought back into the First Cohort, and to his status as a Legionnaire. A year later, he is made Centurion of the First Cohort alongside Michael Kahale.

The Lost Legions[]

The Northern Crown[]

During his first week of being Centurion, Julius is plagued by nightmares of a woman speaking a prophecy and setting him on fire. The next day, he instigates a fight between the First and Second Cohorts by attacking Larry, son of Mercury, who is the co-Centurion of the Second Cohort. During the New Year feast in Camp Jupiter, Venus appears, annoyed that Julius hasn't deciphered her message yet. She wants him to arrange an expedition to go on a quest and bring together the Seven Lost Legions of the Roman army. She then declares Julius her Champion, and the last surviving member of Aeneas's bloodline. Julius chooses to make his expedition both Roman and Greek demigods, so they can use the Argo II, which has been fixed since the war, to move around. Along with the Senate, he decides the expedition would include Leo Valdez, Lavinia Asimov, Clarisse La Rue, and Nico di Angelo. That night, Venus reveals to Julius that the Fifth Legion Alaudae is located near Calgary, Canada. The next day, While the rest of the expedition prepare to leave, Julius and Nico go and speak to Reyna, who retired from service and now studies political science in New Rome University. They eventually convince her to join the first part of the quest, which doesn't require leaving America. The group, minus Leo, who stays behind to do maintenance on the Argo II, start their journey to Canada by train. In Spokane, Julius and Clarisse face Clarisse's half-brothers, Deimos and Phobos, who attempt to sabotage the quest by turning the Greeks against the Romans. They temporarily succeed when Clarisse turns on Julius, but with the help of Reyna and the Hysminai, Clarisse comes to her senses and they continue on. When they finally find the Fifth Legion in Banff National Park, Julius accepts the quest offered to them by the Praetor Dylan Brown, which angers the rest of the expedition. When Julius, Nico and Dylan enter Jasper National Park, they are attacked by a mob of Laistrygonian Giants. Nico and Dylan command an army of dead Romans to round the giants up, while Julius summons Agrippa and creates a fire to kill the giants. Later, The three face off against Favonius, who stole Aquilon's crown. Nico fights Favonius for control over both the western and northern winds while Julius and Dylan sneak behind him to steal the crown back. When Aeolus appears to take Favonius away, Julius scolds him about keeping a better eye on the Anemoi, which leads to Lavinia hitting him on the head to shut him up. Aeolus then tells Julius that Venus gave him a message to pass to Julius in return of one of her limited edition colognes, and reveals the location of the Ninth Legion Bellatrix is in Miyada, Japan. When saying goodbye to Reyna before leaving for Japan, Reyna tells Julius to be careful, and to treat the gods with the respect they deserve.

The Demon Sword[]

Upon arriving in Japan, Julius has to create a storm to defend the Argo II from a flock of Stymphalian Birds, but the storm isn't strong enough and the ship has to land near Mount Utsugi. During the attack of the oni, Julius summons Agrippa and attempts to destroy the oni with fire, but is knocked off of Agrippa by one of the oni's club. When the expedition are led through the Camp of the Ninth Legion, Julius notes how the buildings are built in a Sengoku Japanese manner rather than a Roman manner. When speaking to Yumi Oda, Julius notes she reminds him of Reyna, as both give off a regal aura, this notion comes back when it is revealed Yumi descended from Oda Nobunaga, and the daughter of the Japanese storm god, Susanoo-no-Mikoto. Before leaving on the quest for Mao-no-Tsurugi, Julius is surprised that Yumi doesn't want to take a third member. When his combat skills are questioned by Yumi, Julius says he'll use the lack of the third member to prove to Yumi and her Legion that both him and New Rome deserve their respect. When they are attacked by oni again outside of the shrine of Raijin, Julius isn't quick enough with his knife and has to be saved by Yumi again. At the temple, Julius challenges Raijin to single combat, claiming the former is not a true god. Raijin, in return, defeats him, but let's him and Yumi escape in order for them to be prey for the Raiju, and the pair escape with Mao-no-Tsurugi. While escaping, scolds Julius about his treatment of Raijin, and his arrogance despite his clear lack of strategic thinking. Julius retorts, reminding her that he is descended from Caesar, to which Yumi replies "You are not Caesar. Nor am I Nobunaga. Wisdom dpesn't come with lordship. We must make our own paths". At the battle of the Tenryu River, Julius follows Yumi's lead to create a hurricane and trap and kill the Raiju with their combined powers, as well as the powers of Mao-no-Tsurugi. After the battle, Julius wants to challenge Raijin again, but Raijin refuses, claiming to "be summoned".

The Desert Lions[]

Arriving in Tunisia, Julius and the Expedition find the Tenth Legion in the ancient ruins of the city of Carthage, which Julius considers worrying, as Carthage was an enemy of Rome. When Darius questions Julius's skills owing to his lower rank, Julius retorts by pointing New Rome's ability to build their own city, unlike them, who mooch off the ruins of people who were "dumb as dirt", and continues by saying that the Legion's presence there is an insult to both Rome and Caesar, who was the first commander of the Tenth. When the Expedition captures Nur Al-Hashim, Julius interrogates her alone, learning of Darius plabs to attack the Expedition, and of the Lions of Carthage. On route to the temple of Astrate, Julius teaches Nur hunting strategies he learned from Lupa, and in the trmple itself, Nur, along with Julius using the same technique he used to trap the Raiju, manages to trap the lions. Julius then races on Agrippa back to Carthage to help the Expedition, and accepts Darius's challenge to single combat for command of the Legion. After Julius beat him, Darius refuses to suurender and tries to attack Julius from behind, but is stopped by the Lions, now controlled by Nur. Her intervention, along with Darius's conduct, persuades many of the Legionnaires to question Darius’s fitness as leader. Recognizing Nur’s loyalty and leadership, Julius passes command of the Tenth Legion to her, stating that their leader should be one of their own. The Legion acknowledges Nur as their new Praetor, embracing her vision for their future. After leaving Carthage, Nur tells Julius about rumors of "Renegade Romans" up north, in Israel.
